If you want to know more about call of duty black ops weapons keep reading. While Black Ops in general was a bit of a disappointment (Modern Warfare is a tough number to follow up), the weapons available are pretty sweet. From new SMGs to experimental weapons to rocket launchers, the game offers a wide gamut of sexy shooters. Here are the highlights.

The most ubiquitous gun in the game (and the real world) is the AK-47, and honestly, this is the best part of the game. Where as the AK in MW2 was not that hot a gun, the Black Ops version is fantastic. Good feel to the weapon, reasonably accurate, and there is always available ammunition. The addition of the AK-74u was a nice touch as well. The PM63 submachine gun (really a machine pistol) lacks power, right up front. At close range, an enemy can handle four rounds to the chest before he thinks about keeling over. That said, the gun pumps out just over 900 rounds per minute. Ammo is pretty easy to get a hold of, so firing off half a mag at an opponent is not a huge expenditure. It is a blast to shoot.
Next up on the hit parade is the Heckler and Koch G11. This gun actually never entered production, but it makes an appearance in the game. The thing about the G11 is that it does not use shell casings. The bullets are encased in blocks of propellant, which are destroyed during firing. This makes it so energy is not expended kicking a spent casing out. Notice the lack of recoil when firing its three-round burst. As far as launchers go, the China Lake is a fearsome weapon. It is almost a guaranteed kill, unless you miss by a mile, and accuracy is about 50/50. It works like a pump shotgun, and will certainly make someone think twice about going up against you. It is also very mobile.
Pause real quick. Every gun in Black Ops is a real gun, actually produced between the 1950s and 1970s, using the Moonrake in Golden eye kind of felt like cheating. In this game, you are firing something that real soldiers carried.
Okay, back to assault rifles. The Belgian-made FN FAL was available in Modern Warfare 2, although it focused more on the Brazilian version of the gun. Black Ops features the wooden-furniture version. It may not be as powerful as MW2′s, but it is still a great gun, and a headshot is a headshot. If you are in close combat though, forget about it. Ditch it as soon as you enter a building. There are only a couple of pistols available in the game, but of them, the M1911 and Russian-made Makarov are both noteworthy. The Makarov (insert MW2 villain reference here) holds eight rounds, one more than the 1911, and has a nice sturdy bark to it. The 1911, well, it is just cool. Both require about three shots at close range for a kill. There are more Call of Duty Black Ops weapons to check out.
